Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 1.22%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Monday.

Shares of MPhasis(up 2.85 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(up 2.35 per cent), Infosys(up 1.9 per cent), Coforge(up 1.64 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(up 0.89 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, L&T Technology(down 1.1 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 1.22 per cent up at 30179.75.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 117.1 points at 17711.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 415.49 points at 60224.46.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Tata Steel, Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of AVSL Industries, Mahanagar Gas, Ingersoll-Rand, Jindal Stainles and Chaman Lal Setia hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vineet Laboratories Ltd., Future Consumer, Supreme Engineering, Bartronics and Sumeet Ind hit their fresh 52-week lows.
