Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 1.17%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Coforge Ltd.(up 2.46 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(up 2.06 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 1.91 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.99 per cent) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.82 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 0.33 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 1.17 per cent up at 37299.15.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 18.11 points at 24123.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 34.74 points at 79441.45.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 ended in the green, while 29 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indian Renewable, Zomato and Motherson Sumi were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of G M Breweries, Dharmaj Crop Guard, JK Paper, Pudumjee Paper Prod and Refex Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Hilton Metal, Akme Fintrade(India, Baid Leasing, Future Supply Chain and Sarthak Metals hit their fresh 52-week lows.
