Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 1.1%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Mindtree(up 3.43 per cent), Tech Mahindra(up 2.93 per cent), Infosys(up 1.98 per cent), MPhasis(up 1.23 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(up 0.91 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Coforge(down 5.33 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 0.98 per cent), Wipro(down 0.33 per cent) and L&T Technology(down 0.09 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 1.1 per cent up at 35440.55.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 331.9 points at 16345.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 1223.24 points at 54647.33.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PNB, JP Power and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Dwarikesh Sugar, InfoBeans Tech, Ugar Sugar Work, Mangalam Global Ent and Shree Tirupati Balaj hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Akash Infra-Proj, Felix Industries, Vivo Collaboration Solutions Ltd., Dhruv Consultancy and Hind Nat Glass hit their fresh 52-week lows.
