Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.8%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of HCL Technologies(up 1.59 per cent), Tata Consultancy(up 1.33 per cent), Tech Mahindra(up 1.12 per cent), Infosys(up 0.92 per cent) and Coforge(up 0.5 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, L&T Technology(down 0.62 per cent), Wipro(down 0.56 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd(down 0.06 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.8 per cent up at 29498.0.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 158.45 points at 18053.3, while the BSE Sensex stood up 562.75 points at 60655.72.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.

Shares of PNB, YES Bank, Zomato Ltd., Bank of India and IOB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Homesfy Realty Ltd., Maan Aluminium, Speciality Rest, Indiabulls Enterprises Ltd. and Shriram EPC hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vikas Proppant & Gr, Anlon Technology Solutions Ltd., FSN E-Comm(Nykaa), Omkar Speciality and Chaman Metallics Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
