Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.8%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Friday.
Shares of MphasiS Ltd.(up 1.44 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 1.36 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(up 1.13 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd.(up 0.88 per cent) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.82 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.0 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 0.92 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 0.16 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.8 per cent up at 39166.55.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 55.71 points at 25461.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 193.42 points at 83432.89.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 ended in the green, while 21 closed in the red.
Shares of PC Jeweller, Vodafone Idea, Ola Electric Mobilit, JP Power and RattanIndia Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Sindhu Trade, SML Isuzu, Sumeet Ind, Tourism Finance and Choice Intnl hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Dreamfolks Services, Stampede Cap(DVR), Sadhana Nitro, Globe Civil Projects and Jindal Worldwide hit their fresh 52-week lows.
