Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.79%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Friday.
Shares of Tata Consultancy(up 1.47 per cent), Wipro(up 1.43 per cent), Infosys(up 1.2 per cent), Tech Mahindra(up 1.07 per cent) and Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 0.64 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, MPhasis(down 2.31 per cent), L&T Technology(down 1.49 per cent), Coforge(down 1.45 per cent) and Mindtree(down 0.13 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.79 per cent up at 28064.25.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 28.2 points at 15752.05, while the BSE Sensex stood down 111.01 points at 52907.93.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.
Shares of ONGC, Zomato Ltd., Vodafone Idea, IDFC First Bank and RIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Manorama Ind, Akshar Spintex, Imagicaaworld Entert, Global Education and Globesecure Technologies Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Parag Milk Foods, HEC Infra Projects, Andhra Cements, Parsvnath Dev. and Ajooni Biotech Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
