Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.78% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:09AM(IST)on Tuesday in an upbeat market.

Wipro(up 1.37 per cent), Infosys(up 1.24 per cent), Mindtree(up 1.02 per cent), Tech Mahindra(up 0.93 per cent) and L&T Technology(up 0.76 per cent) were among the top gainers.

MPhasis(down 0.21 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty IT index was up 0.78 per cent at 34146.0 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 36.1 points at 16878.9, while the BSE Sensex was up 165.18 points at 56571.02.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.

Shares of Reliance Power, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Excel Ind, Rajnandini Metal, Consolidated Fin, Focus Lighting and Mahalaxmi Rub hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Repco Home Fin, Rossari Biotech, Gayatri Project, Manappuram Finance and Mallcom(India)hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
