Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.68%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.
Shares of L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 2.44 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(up 1.7 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 1.44 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 1.35 per cent) and Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.08 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Wipro Ltd.(down 1.04 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 0.53 per cent) and Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.15 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.68 per cent up at 40044.7.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 30.21 points at 24479.05, while the BSE Sensex stood down 73.04 points at 80429.04.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 27 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, IRFC and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Gravita India, EMS, TBZ, Sonam Clock and Indian Hume Pipe hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Almondz Global, Nakoda Group Of Ind(PP), Shrenik, Filatex Fashions and Emcure Pharmaceutica hit their fresh 52-week lows.
