Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.59%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Friday.
Shares of Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 4.36 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 1.72 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.69 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(up 1.37 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 1.03 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.85 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.59 per cent up at 42335.7.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 34.21 points at 24964.25, while the BSE Sensex stood down 230.05 points at 81381.36.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Bandhan Bank, JP Power, JM Financial and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Pavna Industries, Naga Dhunseri Group, Sudarshan Chemical, Usha Martin and Neuland Labs hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vinny Overseas, CreditAccess Grameen, Spandana Sphoorty, Morarjee Text and Dhanvarsha Finvest hit their fresh 52-week lows.
