Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.59%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Infosys(up 1.79 per cent), Wipro(up 0.84 per cent), L&T Technology(up 0.76 per cent), Persistent Systems(up 0.69 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(up 0.66 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Coforge(down 3.81 per cent) and MPhasis(down 2.25 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.59 per cent up at 31212.1.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 30.45 points at 19465.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 137.5 points at 65539.42.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.

Shares of Indian Railway Fin, SBFC Finance, Reliance Power, Vodafone Idea and IOB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of SBFC Finance, GRSE, Krishca Strapping So, AB Cotspin India and Balaji Telef hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while BKM Industries, Godha Cabcon & Insul, Synoptics Technologi, Oriana Power and Richa Info Systems L hit their fresh 52-week lows.
