Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.59% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 11:16AM(IST)on Tuesday in a weak market.

MphasiS Ltd.(up 2.08 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(up 1.59 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.18 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 1.02 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.82 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.39 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty IT index was up 0.59 per cent at 37699.45 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 36.05 points at 24909.4, while the BSE Sensex was down 163.78 points at 81895.64.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, BEL, Tata Steel and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Stampede Cap(DVR), Kilitch Drug, Kavita Fabrics, ARSS Infra and Kitex Garments hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Protean eGov Techno, Zenith Exports, Jai Balaji Inds, Chembond Chem and Williamson Magor hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
