Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.57%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Monday.

Shares of Coforge(up 1.43 per cent), HCL Technologies(up 1.21 per cent), MPhasis(up 1.16 per cent), Infosys(up 1.08 per cent) and L&T Technology(up 0.73 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Mindtree(down 0.39 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 0.21 per cent) and Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 0.16 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.57 per cent up at 26743.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 311.05 points at 17016.3, while the BSE Sensex stood down 953.7 points at 57145.22.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, Power Grid, Tata Steel and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Harsha Engineers International Ltd., Fourth Dimension Sol, Trans & Rectif, Shanthi Gears and AVSL Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while United Drilling, Morepen Labs, Cerebra Integrat, Ameya Precision Engineers Ltd. and Himatsingk Seid hit their fresh 52-week lows.
