Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.52% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:09AM(IST)on Friday in a weak market.

HCL Technologies(up 2.24 per cent), MPhasis(up 1.58 per cent), Coforge(up 1.33 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 1.16 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(up 0.52 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Wipro(down 0.06 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty IT index was up 0.52 per cent at 37555.3 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 125.45 points at 16947.15, while the BSE Sensex was down 386.68 points at 56928.6.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 were trading in the green, while 42 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, L&T Fin Holding and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of DCM Shriram Ind, Euro Panel Products Ltd., Data Patterns(India)Ltd., Mittal Life Style and PTL Enterprises hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vikas Multicorp(PP), JTL Infra, SJS Enterprises Ltd., Shriram Properties Ltd. and Destiny Logistics & Infra Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
