Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.49%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.
Shares of Coforge(up 4.1 per cent), Tech Mahindra(up 1.31 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 1.31 per cent), MPhasis(up 0.92 per cent) and L&T Technology(up 0.78 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, HCL Technologies(down 0.64 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.49 per cent up at 36643.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 110.25 points at 17999.2, while the BSE Sensex stood down 396.34 points at 60322.37.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 ended in the green, while 36 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and Tata Motors were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Foods & Inns, Bigbloc Const, TV Today Network, JBM Auto and Sirca Paints hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Walchandngr Ind, Supreme Infra, IRIS Business Servic, Nidan Laboratories And Healthcare Ltd. and Vikas WSP hit their fresh 52-week lows.
