Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.49% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:14AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

MphasiS Ltd.(up 1.74 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 1.34 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 1.24 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(up 0.52 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(up 0.14 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 0.47 per cent) and Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.27 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty IT index was up 0.49 per cent at 37953.45 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 0.75 points at 21929.75, while the BSE Sensex was down 23.22 points at 72128.78.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, JP Power, Vodafone Idea, IOB and UCO Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of GeeCee Ventures, TRF Ltd, S H Kelkar & Co., Balaji Telef and Vadilal Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Latteys Industries, GTL Ltd, Oil Country Tub, N K Industries and Paras Petrofils hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
