Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.47%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 2.32 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 1.89 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.61 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.23 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(up 0.77 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Infosys Ltd.(down 0.3 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.47 per cent up at 42591.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 99.61 points at 25151.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 349.05 points at 82134.61.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, TV18 Broadcast, NBCC , YES Bank and IFCI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Cybertech Sys, Aarey Drugs, Gokul Agro Resources, Genesys Intnl and Pokarna Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Globale Tessile, Mahalaxmi Fabric Mil, Poddar Housing, Filatex Fashions and NACL Industries hit their fresh 52-week lows.
