Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.46%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Coforge Ltd.(up 3.48 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 1.29 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(up 1.1 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 0.56 per cent) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.3 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 0.17 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.08 per cent) and MphasiS Ltd.(down 0.04 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.46 per cent up at 42644.65.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 53.61 points at 25145.1, while the BSE Sensex stood down 151.48 points at 82201.16.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 32 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, GMR Infra, Zomato, Ola Electric Mobilit and JM Financial were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Nupur Recyclers, Premier Energies, Nectar Lifesc, Alpa Labs and Shriram EPC hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Stampede Cap(DVR), Globale Tessile, Mahalaxmi Fabric Mil, Revathi Equipment and Suumaya Lifestyle hit their fresh 52-week lows.
