Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.36%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Coforge Ltd.(up 2.32 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 0.88 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(up 0.8 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.72 per cent) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.61 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.38 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.36 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 0.25 per cent) and Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 0.13 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.36 per cent up at 34927.1.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 41.91 points at 23516.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 36.45 points at 77337.59.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Indus Towers, YES Bank, Shree Ren Sug and GMR Infra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Kalyani Forge, Windsor Machine, Tirupati Forge, MITCON Const & Engg. and Tera Software hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SecUR Credentials, Kanani Inds, Future Supply Chain, GIR Natureview and BDR Buildcon hit their fresh 52-week lows.
