Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.33%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of MPhasis(up 2.02 per cent), Tata Consultancy(up 1.29 per cent), Tech Mahindra(up 0.37 per cent), Wipro(up 0.2 per cent) and Infosys(up 0.1 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Coforge(down 0.96 per cent), Persistent Systems(down 0.92 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 0.85 per cent), L&T Technology(down 0.3 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd(down 0.14 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.33 per cent up at 28596.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 18.45 points at 17895.7, while the BSE Sensex stood down 9.98 points at 60105.5.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, PNB, IOB and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Generic Engg, Indiabulls Enterprises Ltd., Sky Gold, Trans & Rectif and 3P Land Holdings hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vikas Proppant & Gr, Jyoti Structure, Laurus Labs, Acrysil and Nureca Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
