Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.33%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd.(up 3.54 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 1.82 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(up 1.46 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.84 per cent) and Infosys Ltd.(up 0.54 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.72 per cent) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.27 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.33 per cent up at 36938.1.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 77.71 points at 24620.2, while the BSE Sensex stood up 260.74 points at 80998.25.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Reliance Power, Aditya Birla Retail and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Reliance Infra, Natural Capsule, Camlin Fine Sc, Steel Cast and Shree Global hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Aditya Birla Retail, Lasa Supergenerics, Godha Cabcon & Insul, Navkar Builders and Prostarm Info System hit their fresh 52-week lows.
