Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.32%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of MPhasis(up 1.11 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 1.1 per cent), Coforge(up 1.09 per cent), Mindtree(up 0.75 per cent) and Wipro(up 0.74 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, L&T Technology(down 0.8 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 0.74 per cent) and HCL Technologies(down 0.65 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.32 per cent up at 27832.4.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 31.2 points at 17624.4, while the BSE Sensex stood down 168.08 points at 59028.91.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, Bharti Airtel and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Bharat Wire Ropes, GRSE, Macpower CNC Machine, Rajratan Global and EIH hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Debock Sales & Mktg, Shri Ram Switchgears, OrissaBengalCarrier, Tijaria Polypip and Mastek Ltd hit their fresh 52-week lows.
