Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.31%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Infosys Ltd.(up 0.99 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 0.64 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.63 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.52 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(up 0.27 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 1.55 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.33 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 0.58 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.21 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.31 per cent up at 43020.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 92.96 points at 23603.35, while the BSE Sensex stood down 213.12 points at 78058.16.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 32 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, YES Bank, Zomato and Swiggy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Vimta Labs, Senores Pharmaceutic, Pansari Developers, Supreme Holdings and KRN Heat Exchanger hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rajshree Polypack, Swiggy, Ankit Metal Pwr, Morarjee Text and AGS Transact Tech hit their fresh 52-week lows.
