Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.18%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.17 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.07 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.76 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.46 per cent) and L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 0.33 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, MphasiS Ltd.(down 0.78 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.48 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 0.26 per cent) and Coforge Ltd.(down 0.12 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.18 per cent up at 40851.1.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 93.86 points at 24951.15, while the BSE Sensex stood up 285.94 points at 81741.34.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 ended in the green, while 17 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, GAIL and Reliance Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Fiberweb India, Shivam Autotech, Ind-Swift Labs, Torrent Power and J G Chemicals hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Focus Lighting, SecUR Credentials, Ravindra Energy, Baid Leasing and Equippp Social Impact hit their fresh 52-week lows.
