Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.12%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.
Shares of HCL Technologies(up 0.91 per cent), Infosys(up 0.35 per cent), Persistent Systems(up 0.17 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(up 0.06 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 0.59 per cent), L&T Technology(down 0.41 per cent), MPhasis(down 0.4 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 0.25 per cent) and Wipro(down 0.12 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.12 per cent up at 30345.65.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 55.3 points at 18618.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 177.04 points at 62681.84.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
Shares of Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd., Suzlon Energy, Rail Vikas Nigam, PNB and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of SBC Exports, Rite Zone Chemcon India Ltd., Chembond Chem, Mohini Health & Hygi and Accelya Solutions hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Laurus Labs, Indiabulls Intgrtd, Ishan International Ltd., Penta Gold and Vital Chemtech Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
