Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.06%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Friday.

Shares of Infosys(up 0.89 per cent), Coforge(up 0.59 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(up 0.13 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, L&T Technology(down 2.37 per cent), MPhasis(down 0.71 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 0.64 per cent), Wipro(down 0.6 per cent) and Mindtree(down 0.36 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 0.06 per cent up at 30036.1.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 198.05 points at 17758.45, while the BSE Sensex stood down 651.85 points at 59646.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 6 ended in the green, while 44 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Steel and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Sumit Woods, Indo Amines, Sarthak Metals, NDTV and AMD Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Agni Green Power Ltd., MITCON Const & Engg., Future Enterprises, Swaraj Suiting Ltd. and D K Enterprises Global Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
