Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.06%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Tech Mahindra(up 0.76 per cent), Wipro(up 0.52 per cent), HCL Technologies(up 0.42 per cent), Persistent Systems(up 0.34 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(up 0.19 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, L&T Technology(down 2.71 per cent), Coforge(down 1.14 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(down 0.65 per cent) and Infosys(down 0.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.06 per cent up at 28890.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 62.6 points at 18285.4, while the BSE Sensex stood down 208.01 points at 61773.78.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red.
Shares of Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, Vodafone Idea, Zomato and Indian Railway Fin were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of BEW Engineering, Dynamic Cables, Schneider, Arham Technologies and Deep Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SITI Networks, Jakharia Fabric, Auro Impex & Chemic, Salasar Exteriors and Vikas Multicorp hit their fresh 52-week lows.
