Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.05%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Persistent Systems(up 7.54 per cent), Coforge(up 1.04 per cent), MPhasis(up 0.99 per cent), Tech Mahindra(up 0.47 per cent) and Wipro(up 0.05 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, LTIMindtree Ltd(down 0.82 per cent), L&T Technology(down 0.64 per cent), Tata Consultancy(down 0.5 per cent), Infosys(down 0.42 per cent) and HCL Technologies(down 0.34 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.05 per cent up at 29632.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 57.5 points at 18107.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 187.31 points at 60858.43.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, PNB and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Mold Tek Tech, Hisar Metal Ind, Chembond Chem, GRP Ltd and Atul Auto hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Nureca Ltd., GTPL Hathway, Vikas Proppant & Gr, Anlon Technology Solutions Ltd. and Chaman Metallics Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
