Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.03%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.46 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.87 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.65 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.4 per cent) and Infosys Ltd.(up 0.27 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Coforge Ltd.(down 1.47 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(down 1.08 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.39 per cent) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.17 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.03 per cent up at 34936.45.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 51.0 points at 23567.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 141.34 points at 77478.93.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Rashtriya Chemicals, Suzlon Energy and Ibull Real Estate were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Rashtriya Chemicals, FACT, C.E. Info Systems, Shradha Infraproject and National Fertilizers hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SecUR Credentials, Divgi Torqtransfer, Kanani Inds, IndInfravit Trust and GIR Natureview hit their fresh 52-week lows.
