Stock market update: Nifty IT index 1.17%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a note on Tuesday.

Shares of HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.35 per cent) and L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 0.14 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Coforge Ltd.(down 4.63 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 3.19 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.04 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.15 per cent) and MphasiS Ltd.(down 1.14 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty IT index closed 1.17 per cent at 41697.95.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 320.1 points at 23024.65, while the BSE Sensex stood 1235.08 points at 75838.36.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 ended in the green, while 42 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy and NMDC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Reliance Naval & Engg, Cubex Tubings, Atlas Cycles, Super Spinning and Mangalore Chem hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Strides Shasun, DAM Capital Advisors, Sanghvi Movers, Barbeque-Nation Hosp and Jana Small Finance Bank hit their fresh 52-week lows.
