NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a note on Monday.
Shares of Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 2.17 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.32 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(up 0.16 per cent), L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 0.11 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.1 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Wipro Ltd.(down 1.92 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 0.83 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 0.57 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.51 per cent) and Coforge Ltd.(down 0.13 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.03 per cent at 40421.80.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 309.0 points at 23995.35, while the BSE Sensex stood 941.88 points at 78782.24.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 ended in the green, while 42 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, PNB, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy and IDFC First Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Shree Rama Multi, Elgi Rubber Co, OrientalAromatics, Siyaram Silk and Pyramid Technoplast hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Popular Vehicles, Deepak Builders & En, OCCL Ltd., TCI Express and Axita Cotton hit their fresh 52-week lows.
