Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 1.72%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Thursday.
Shares of RBLBANK(up 0.56 per cent) and AU Small Finance Bank(up 0.46 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 3.14 per cent), HDFC Bank(down 2.47 per cent), ICICI Bank(down 1.96 per cent), Bandhan Bank(down 1.93 per cent) and IDFCBANK(down 1.72 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 1.72 per cent down at 35527.1.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 22.9 points at 17222.75, while the BSE Sensex stood down 89.14 points at 57595.68.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, L&T Fin Holding, Zee Ent., IDFC First Bank and TV18 Broadcast were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Shiv Aum Steels, Krishana Phoschem, Guj Mineral Dev., Agarwal Corp and North Eastern hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Felix Industries, Akash Infra-Proj, GMR Power and Urban Infra Ltd., Ganga Forging and Shri Ram Switchgears hit their fresh 52-week lows.
