Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.87%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.34 per cent), Axis Bank(up 0.55 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 0.32 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 3.31 per cent), HDFC Bank(down 2.44 per cent), Bandhan Bank(down 1.75 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(down 1.01 per cent) and ICICI Bank(down 0.88 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Bank index closed 0.87 per cent down at 34827.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 91.65 points at 15966.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 372.46 points at 53514.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of GRP Ltd, TCPL Packaging, Hubtown Ltd, Spacenet Enterprise and Hardwyn India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Foods & Inns, Vikas Proppant & Gr, Suumaya Lifestyle, Sintex Plastics Tech and MIC Electronics hit their fresh 52-week lows.
