Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.78% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index traded negative around 10:35AM(IST)on Tuesday in a weak market.

IDFC First Bank Ltd.(down 2.93 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(down 2.49 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.68 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 1.29 per cent) and Bank of Baroda(down 1.25 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty Bank index was down 0.78 per cent at 48873.3 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 140.6 points at 22818.9, while the BSE Sensex was down 409.25 points at 75587.61.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 were trading in the green, while 43 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, PC Jeweller and Vishal Mega Mart were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Norben Tea Exp, Blue Coast Hotel, Ajax Engineering, MPS Ltd and Aarti Pharmalabs hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Suratwwala Business, Goodluck India, Lancor Holdings, Ganga Forging and Best Agrolife hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
