Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.76%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Thursday.
Shares of IDFC First Bank Ltd.(up 1.41 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 1.41 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 1.34 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 0.98 per cent) and Federal Bank Ltd.(up 0.66 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 3.34 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(down 3.08 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.89 per cent), Bandhan Bank Ltd.(down 0.31 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 0.14 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.76 per cent down at 45713.55.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 109.71 points at 21462.25, while the BSE Sensex stood down 313.9 points at 71186.86.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, South Indian Bnk, Indian Railway Fin and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Oracle, Tarmat Ltd, Ajmera Realty, Yash Pakka and Phillips Carbon hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Digidrive Distributo, Stampede Cap(DVR), Flair Writing Indust, GSS Infotech and Inox India hit their fresh 52-week lows.
