Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.62%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of AU Small Finance Bank(up 4.43 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bank of Baroda(down 2.02 per cent), Bandhan Bank(down 1.87 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 1.76 per cent), State Bank of India(down 1.41 per cent) and Axis Bank(down 1.22 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Bank index closed 0.62 per cent down at 37755.55.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 6.15 points at 17382.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 51.73 points at 58298.8.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 ended in the green, while 19 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Steel and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Navneet Education, Wonderla Holidays, KEI Industries, Fineotex Chem and Varun Beverages hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Future Retail, Birla Tyres, Melstar Info, Debock Sales & Mktg and Future Enterprises hit their fresh 52-week lows.
