Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.56%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 0.74 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bandhan Bank(down 4.42 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 2.88 per cent), IDFCBANK(down 1.81 per cent), Bank of Baroda(down 1.78 per cent) and AU Small Finance Bank(down 1.71 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Bank index closed 0.56 per cent down at 39395.35.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 131.85 points at 16945.05, while the BSE Sensex stood down 398.18 points at 57527.1.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato Ltd., PNB and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of IZMO, Sterling Tools, Cyient, Nagreeka Capital and Binani Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Cybertech Sys, Quadpro ITeS Ltd., Jet Knitwears, Puravankara and Setco Automotive hit their fresh 52-week lows.
