Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.45%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of Bandhan Bank Ltd.(up 4.76 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 1.62 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 0.93 per cent), State Bank of India(up 0.62 per cent) and Axis Bank Ltd.(up 0.48 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.54 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 0.56 per cent) and Federal Bank Ltd.(down 0.09 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.45 per cent down at 48292.25.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 47.3 points at 21731.4, while the BSE Sensex stood down 170.12 points at 72240.26.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, YES Bank, Alok Industries and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Allcargo Terminals, BAG Films, Bharat Road Net, S Chand & Co and Mahamaya Steel hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Raj Rayon, IKIO Lighting, Azad Engineering, GIR Natureview and BDR Buildcon hit their fresh 52-week lows.
