Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.29%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of State Bank of India(up 1.14 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.29 per cent) and Punjab National Bank(up 0.21 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bank of Baroda(down 2.78 per cent), Bandhan Bank Ltd.(down 1.91 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.72 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 1.19 per cent) and Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.08 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Bank index closed 0.29 per cent down at 45690.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 157.71 points at 21929.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 454.67 points at 72186.09.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, IOB, NHPC and UCO Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Bhagyanagar Ind, Ajmera Realty, Xchanging Sol, Arvind SmartSpaces and Udayshivakumar Infra hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Stampede Cap(DVR), Butterfly Gandhi, Tatva Chintan Pharm, Sheetal Cool and Medicamen Bio hit their fresh 52-week lows.
