Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.08%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Monday.
Shares of AU Small Finance Bank(up 2.27 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 2.17 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.37 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 0.66 per cent) and Axis Bank(up 0.33 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bank of Baroda(down 2.31 per cent), HDFC Bank(down 1.28 per cent), IDFCBANK(down 0.97 per cent), Bandhan Bank(down 0.95 per cent) and State Bank of India(down 0.32 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.08 per cent down at 34247.6.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 51.45 points at 16214.7, while the BSE Sensex stood down 37.78 points at 54288.61.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, BHEL and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Akshar Spintex, SP Refractories Ltd., Commercial Engg, Apcotex Ind and Lancer Container Lin hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while JSW Steel, Tata Steel, NMDC, SAIL and Prudent Corporate Advisory Services Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
