Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 1.9%
The Nifty Bank index closed 1.9 per cent up at 51398.05.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 3.12 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 2.92 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 1.93 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 1.59 per cent) and IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 1.35 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bank of Baroda(down 1.17 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(down 1.14 per cent), Federal Bank Ltd.(down 0.31 per cent) and Punjab National Bank(down 0.27 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 1.9 per cent up at 51398.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 41.91 points at 23516.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 36.45 points at 77337.59.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Indus Towers, YES Bank, Shree Ren Sug and GMR Infra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Kalyani Forge, Windsor Machine, Tirupati Forge, MITCON Const & Engg. and Tera Software hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SecUR Credentials, Kanani Inds, Future Supply Chain, GIR Natureview and BDR Buildcon hit their fresh 52-week lows.
