Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 1.71%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Friday.
Shares of Axis Bank(up 9.03 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 2.1 per cent), ICICI Bank(up 2.08 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 2.03 per cent) and Federal Bank(up 1.77 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, AU Small Finance Bank(down 2.19 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 1.53 per cent) and HDFC Bank(down 0.7 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 1.71 per cent up at 40784.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 12.35 points at 17576.3, while the BSE Sensex stood up 104.25 points at 59307.15.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.
Shares of PNB, Suzlon Energy, NHPC, Vodafone Idea and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of DC Infotech, Tips Films Ltd., AXISCADES Engineeri, Jindal Poly Investm and Axis Bank hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Delhivery Ltd., JohnsonCtrls Hitachi, Optiemus Infra, Policy Bazaar and Nureca Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
