Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.76%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Monday.
Shares of AU Small Finance Bank(up 2.99 per cent), State Bank of India(up 2.84 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 1.71 per cent), HDFC Bank(up 1.53 per cent) and Axis Bank(up 1.09 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 3.48 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 2.16 per cent) and Bandhan Bank(down 0.44 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.76 per cent up at 37975.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 237.9 points at 17339.85, while the BSE Sensex stood up 813.94 points at 58014.17.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 ended in the green, while 6 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JP Power, MMTC and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Jainam Ferro Alloys(I)Ltd., Bharat Road Net, Lotus Eye Hosp, MMTC and Parin Furniture hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while AGS Transact Technologies Ltd., AB Cotspin India Ltd., Atal Realtech, Mahalaxmi Rub and Dynamic Services & Security Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
