Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.61%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of IDFC First Bank Ltd.(up 2.67 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 1.73 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 1.52 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 1.24 per cent) and Federal Bank Ltd.(up 1.13 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Punjab National Bank(down 2.02 per cent) and Axis Bank Ltd.(down 0.05 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.61 per cent up at 49165.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 205.85 points at 23163.1, while the BSE Sensex stood up 631.55 points at 76532.96.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 ended in the green, while 10 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, IDFC First Bank, Inox Wind Ltd. and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Blue Jet Healthcare, Tera Software, Blue Coast Hotel, Navkar Builders and Madhya Bharat Agro hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Baazar Style Retail, Karda Const, Power Mech Proj, Baid Leasing and Noida Toll Bridge Co hit their fresh 52-week lows.
