Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.55%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Monday.

Shares of IDFCBANK(up 3.55 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 2.11 per cent), Federal Bank(up 1.9 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(up 1.6 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 1.53 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bandhan Bank(down 0.91 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.4 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Bank index closed 0.55 per cent up at 33811.25.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 132.8 points at 15832.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 433.3 points at 53161.28.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 ended in the green, while 10 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., Vodafone Idea, Brightcom Group, IDFC First Bank and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Wendt India, Sterling Tools, Marathon Nextgen, Voltamp Trans and Spacenet Enterprise hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Touchwood Entertainm, Fidel Softech Ltd., Aakash Exploration, Vaxtex Cotfab and Bombay Rayon hit their fresh 52-week lows.
