Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.54%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 3.91 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 1.76 per cent), IDFC First Bank Ltd.(up 1.42 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 0.81 per cent) and IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 0.31 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Punjab National Bank(down 1.38 per cent), Bank of Baroda(down 0.87 per cent), Bandhan Bank Ltd.(down 0.84 per cent) and State Bank of India(down 0.36 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.54 per cent up at 53037.6.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 38.25 points at 25415.8, while the BSE Sensex stood up 236.57 points at 83184.8.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Bajaj Housing Fin, Reliance Power, YES Bank and Indus Towers were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Neogen Chemicals, AGI Infra Ltd., Sintercom India, Newgen Software and Indostar Cap. Fin. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vodafone Idea, P N Gadgil Jewellers, Kross L, Tolins Tyres and Dhanvarsha Finvest hit their fresh 52-week lows.
