Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.51%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Friday.

Shares of IndusInd Bank(up 2.66 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 2.35 per cent), State Bank of India(up 1.83 per cent), Federal Bank(up 1.4 per cent) and Bandhan Bank(up 0.89 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, IDFCBANK(down 0.88 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.13 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Bank index closed 0.51 per cent up at 40415.7.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 34.6 points at 17833.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 104.92 points at 59793.14.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., Reliance Power and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of D P Wires, Omax Autos, Euro India Fresh, Jash Engineering and BSL Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Ameya Precision Engineers Ltd., JFL Life Sciences Ltd., GRM Overseas, Gayatri Project and Kopran Ltd hit their fresh 52-week lows.
