NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a note on Thursday.
Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 1.22 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 0.64 per cent) and Punjab National Bank(up 0.06 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.57 per cent), Canara Bank(down 1.45 per cent), State Bank of India(down 1.39 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.23 per cent) and Federal Bank Ltd.(down 1.06 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.67 per cent at 49503.50.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 162.46 points at 23526.5, while the BSE Sensex stood 528.28 points at 77620.21.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 ended in the green, while 34 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato, Manappuram Finance and Vishal Mega Mart were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of SRF, Navin Fluorine, Mangalam Global Ent, Power & Instrument and Kalyani Forge hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Pritish Nandy, K P Energy Ltd., Odigma Consultancy, Mamata Machinery and Lorenzini Apparels hit their fresh 52-week lows.
