NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a note on Wednesday.
Shares of HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 1.44 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 1.28 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 1.1 per cent) and ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.36 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Punjab National Bank(down 2.12 per cent), Canara Bank(down 1.66 per cent), Federal Bank Ltd.(down 1.17 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.13 per cent) and IDFC First Bank Ltd.(down 0.81 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.32 per cent at 48724.40.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 130.7 points at 23155.35, while the BSE Sensex stood 566.63 points at 76404.99.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy and Kalyan Jewellers Ind were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Narmada Agrobase, Reliance Naval & Engg, Navkar Builders, BGR Energy and Shree Vasu Logistics hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Indoco Remedies, Cyient DLM, Lancor Holdings, Laxmi Dental and K P Energy Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
