Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.84%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Monday.
Shares of TIINDIA(up 0.56 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Balkrishna Industries(down 3.53 per cent), Tata Motors(down 2.69 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(down 2.3 per cent), Bosch(down 2.3 per cent) and Bharat Forge(down 2.25 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.84 per cent down at 10589.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 284.45 points at 16912.25, while the BSE Sensex stood down 949.32 points at 56747.14.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 1 ended in the green, while 49 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, BHEL, Suzlon Energy and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of MPS Infotecnics, Vimta Labs, Kabra Extrusion, JBM Auto and Universus Photo hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Dev Information Tech, Tarsons Products Ltd., Asian Hotels(W), Opto Circuits and Jiya Eco Products Lt hit their fresh 52-week lows.
