Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.44% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 10:24AM(IST)on Tuesday in a weak market.

Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 1.01 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.51 per cent) and Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 0.13 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 3.24 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 3.24 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 3.2 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 2.82 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 2.2 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty Auto index was down 1.44 per cent at 23647.05 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 550.16 points at 22713.75, while the BSE Sensex was down 1691.43 points at 74777.35.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, RattanIndia Power, NHPC, Suzlon Energy and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Heritage Foods, E2E Networks, RattanIndia Power, Ujaas Energy and Viceroy Hotels hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Filatex Fashions, Ibull Housing Fin(PP), Vaxtex Cotfab, Sintex Plastics Tech and Oriental Carbon hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
